i try not to influence the viewer as to what it means to me personally if i can help it [in most cases] because i enjoy reading and hearing how others interpret my work, but i understand when someone is interested in how a piece came about, so....the motivation to make this one comes from yesterday being my son's first full day of school ever and my first day home alone as a stay at home dad in almost five years - a chance for both of us to gain/regain some independence. it was a one of the moments in time that i needed to document. this was the result. materially speaking, it's a photo from 1986, a line from a play, an illustration from a very old how-to book, scotch tape and wood grain shelf paper. hope that helps.
