I wish that this nice visitor (probably a distant relative of the spinach-loving sailor) rather sang numbers than just simply saying them.

perhaps that's true, but she does have a very fine speaking voice. and her singing might be compared to that of a dog in heat on a hot day. so be careful what you wish for.
